How to play Emoji Trail
A few pictures can tell a whole story. In Emoji Trail, your job is to read those pictures and build the story with words from the word bank. You can play the free emoji puzzle game in a phone or computer browser without making an account.
Read the pictures before choosing words
Look at the complete emoji clue first. Identify the people, animals, or objects in it, then work out what is happening to them. In longer puzzles, read the numbered scenes in order. A change between scenes can be just as useful as an individual symbol.
The pictures give you the events; the word bank supplies the language. Small words such as “the,” “a,” and “is” help you form a natural sentence. You do not need an emoji for every grammar word.
Build the story from the word bank
Tap words in the order you want them to appear in your answer. Start by finding the subject and its action. Then add the details that match the clue: what was carried, where someone went, or why an event happened.
Some puzzles include spare words. A word may fit the theme without belonging in the answer, so you do not always need every tile. If the same word appears more than once, each tile is a separate word you can use. Tap a placed word to return it to the bank and adjust your sentence before checking it.
Try a tiny tutorial example
For the clue 🐱 💤, the tutorial gives you the words “The,” “cat,” “is,” and “sleeping.” The cat is the subject, and the sleep marks show its action. Put the tiles together as “The cat is sleeping.”
The later stories are longer. Instead of naming a single action, you may need to connect two events or explain a change of plan. Keep checking that every part of your sentence is supported by the pictures.
Check, rethink, and use a little help
Use the check button when your answer is ready. If it does not fit, compare the sentence with the clue again. Pay attention to who performs each action, the order of events, and words that signal a cause or contrast.
Help is available inside the puzzle, and there is no countdown rushing you. Once you solve a story, read its explanation to see how the clues connect.
Choose your trail
New players can begin with the three tutorials and continue through six themed worlds. If you already enjoy longer word puzzles, choose “Challenge me” on the home screen to reach the 12 bonus Legendary stories.
